Medsmart, GDPR and Your Data
May 23, 2018

Hello! By now you’re probably aware that the way in which all companies who hold your personal data are regulated and monitored in the EU is being changed through the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). And thats a good thing!

To help you understand how we’ve prepared for GDPR and tell you a bit more about the data we store, we’ve wrote this blog to let you know what we’ve been doing:

What we’ve done:

We’ve always ensured we  never share your personal data outside of our company, and we do everything we can to protect the data we hold on your behalf.

To make sure we’re doing everything right by you under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), we’ve been to conferences and lectures to learn about new changes. For all our company processes, we’ve followed the Information Commissioner’s Office UK & EU guidelines on GDPR. To double check we’ve done everything right, we’ve even made sure we’ve externally vetted and verified. Your data protection is that important to us!

What data do we store & why?

Medsmart® relies upon your personal medical data to function and to provide you with our service. We do this through information about your medicines and health which we think may be of interest to you in the Medsmart® app, and through the emails we send to you (if you choose to receive them).

In this way, we’re processing your data which is necessary for the performance of a contract (with you). We only process your aggregated, anonymised data which is necessary for the purposes of our legitimate interests. This data helps us to understand and support you, medicines providers, healthcare professionals and other interested parties to help design better medicines solutions. Its’ ‘data for good’!

Where can I find out more information?

If you have any more questions about Medsmart and GDPR, take a look at the detail in our Terms and Conditions, and in our Privacy Statements.

That’s it! Thank you for using Medsmart – more than 15,000 people have now downloaded it and we are very grateful to each and every one of you!

Best wishes,

All of us at Medsmart®
